Overview:

This project proposal outlines the opportunity to assist in the purchase of a strategic property for a new church plant in the coastal community of Barro Preto, Ceara, Brazil. This document provides background on the congregation, current ministry and outreach efforts, and the vision for long-term Gospel presence in a region with currently no solid evangelical witness.

 

New Church Plant Background:

Several years ago, a small group of approximately 9–12 believers in the fisherman village of Barro Preto began gathering for Sunday meetings on the porch of a beach house. This group had a strong desire to see a biblically grounded church established in their community. Currently, there are none in this community. 

In 2024 in response to this need, this core group invited the abwe church plant in Eusébio (IBBE), led by Tim and Andrea Blazer, to partner with them. Despite IBBE being a relatively young church plant at the time, it embraced this opportunity and began sending a team weekly to work with the new congregation. 

 

Current Ministry Activity:

These leaders from IBBE under Tim Blazer’s leadership provide preaching, weekly prayer gatherings, oversee youth and women’s ministries, and coordinate evangelistic outreach programs and in-home Bible studies.

The ministry is also actively engaging the local community. Each Saturday, the church hosts a children’s outreach program that reaches approximately 20–30 children through jiu-jitsu and athletic activities. This initiative is expanding to include workshops for mothers, creating opportunities for them to remain on-site and hear the gospel.

Both the local believers and the IBBE leadership team are deeply committed to the advancement of this work. However, one of the most significant limitations to further growth is the lack of a permanent meeting space and visible presence in the community.

 

Property Opportunity Possibility:

All donated funds will be used to purchase a property located on the main road through Barro Preto. The Blazers have already raised a portion of the required funds, and the remaining $75,000 would enable the acquisition if the Lord so wills.

One possible property option includes approximately 1,200 square meters (12,917 square feet) of land and a 400 square meters (4306 square feet) structure. The building contains eight bedrooms with bathrooms, of which several could be adapted for pastoral housing and guest accommodations for ministry training. Additional features include a kitchen, dining area, guest bathroom, and large covered porches on both levels.

The possible property also includes outdoor amenities such as a grass field, covered social gathering area, parking for vehicles, and a swimming pool as well as abundant unused land on the back of the lot. This provides a versatile space for both ministry and community engagement.

This initial investment and purchase will be the only major fund-raising campaign this new church plant will need, saving us from years of seeking building permits and overseeing those projects.  This opportunity to buy something that immediately can serve for the new church, future pastoral housing, and other partnership ministries with training facilities all in one is exciting.

Strategically, this possible property presents a unique opportunity to establish a permanent and visible presence in a spiritually needy community. It is located several doors down from the community’s only school and is situated on the main road through the community immediately in front of the main bus stop.  It also provides a sustainable model for future pastoral housing, which will be an essential component of long-term ministry support of a pastor for this new church.
