As we settle into our "furlough" year (now referred to by some as home assignment), every weekend we visit a different church and share all the amazing things God is doing in Brazil through our partnership in the Gospel. It truly is a privilege and so encouraging to us. Some families and churches have been supporting our ministry for over 25 years now which is humbling.
Praise the Lord for positive reports of ministry continuing in Brazil at our church plant even in our absence. The church is planning a large outreach event for a national holiday in October called children's day. It is a big deal every year, and we always take the opportunity to share the Gospel by offering a special event for the community. Also recently, missionary colleagues just completed a training to better equip our church members; and, of course, we receive reports of all the fun they are having without us.

Our team of deacons and their families is still weekly working with the new church plant project in our neighbor city, and they have expanded with special events and are praying about outreach plans for that community.
In August, Tim taught a seminary class online for a Brazilian partner seminary, and we both continue to meet regularly online with the church leaders and missionaries that we mentor. Praise the Lord for technology which is a tremendous blessing during our furlough year.

Keep praying.... The church's building permit is currently in the hands of the city office that has the authority to approve it. We are told all documents have finally been submitted including the last piece which was the soil test, and the permit is now waiting its turn for review. Continue to pray with us, we are very eager to see a church building on this land and to see this step completed for His glory and His kingdom.
As we raise the monthly support lacking in order to return next year, we are tremendously blessed by your faithfulness and generosity. Pray with us that God will raise up more partners during our furlough year.

Celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary with a nice dinner out, we reflected much on our journey and our growth...... and on God's goodness, love, faithfulness, grace, and sustaining power through it all. Thank you for your partnership in the Gospel! Blessings to you and yours.
